Sri Lanka president appeals to Tigers to disarm

Feb 03 (Kyodo) Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse on Saturday appealed to the Tamil Tiger rebels to lay down their arms and rejoin peace talks. "They must begin surrendering their weapons and come for talks," Rajapakse told reporters who accompanied him to Vakarai, a town in Eastern Province recently captured from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. more
